To Create Extruded Geometry
1. In the 3D mode, select an open or closed sketch, or one or several sketch regions. A Mini Toolbar appears. Extruded geometry is created. A linear dragger appears. If you are adding a taper (draft angle) to the extruded geometry, an angular dragger appears.
2. Click the arrow next to and select an option from: —
Option
Function
Solid
Extrudes the sketch into solid geometry.
Cut
Removes geometry from the path of extrusion.
Surface
Extrudes into surface geometry.
3. An Options Toolbar appears, showing relevant tools. Click to open the Floating Dashboard.
4. To change extrusion depth, pull the linear dragger. Alternatively, type a value in the Depth side 1 or the Depth side 2 collector.
5. To select the type of the extrusion, click the arrow next to the Depth side 1 or the Depth side 2 collector and select an option from: —
Option
Function
Blind
Extrudes or cuts a solid or surface, by a specific depth value.
Symmetric
Extrudes or cuts a solid or surface, on both sides, by half the specified depth value in each direction.
To Next
Extrudes or cuts a solid, till the next surface.
Through All
Extrudes or cuts a solid, to intersect with all surfaces.
Through Until
Extrudes or cuts a solid, till intersection with a selected surface.
To Selected
Extrudes or cuts a solid or surface, till a selected point, curve, plane or surface.
6. To close the ends of the extruded surface, select the Capped ends check box. Alternatively, click on the Options Toolbar.
7. To add a thickness to a sketch or a surface, select the check box next to Thicken sketch. Type a value in the collector in the Thicken sketch panel.
To change the extrusion thickness, pull the dragger.
To select a recently used thickness value, click the arrow next to the Thicken sketch text box.
8. To flip direction, click in the Material side panel.
9. To change the draft angle of a tapered solid extrusion, type a draft angle value in the Taper collector. Alternately, if the Taper check box is selected, pull the angular dragger.
10. To add material along the extrusion direction, click the arrow in the Material handling panel and select Add. To remove material, click the arrow in the Material handling panel and select Remove.
11. Middle click to complete.
