Create drawings from models (Creo Elements/Direct Annotation) > Modify drawings > Add and change text > Create text

Create text
Text can be added to a drawing to provide more information about the model. Adding and editing text is done in the Text menu. You can create text with specific attributes, edit already existing text, and change the attributes of already existing text.
*
If Creo Elements/Direct Annotation draws boxes instead of the text, you must input a text font.
To add single lines or blocks of text to your drawing,
1. Click Annotation and then, in the Annotate group, click the arrow next to Text.
2. Click Text New. The Create Text dialog box opens along with the Text Editor window.
3. If necessary, click Owner and specify the owner of the text.
4. To use an external text editor, click External on. (The Built-in editor is used by default.)
5. Type text in the Text field or click Text to open the editor window.
To exit the built-in Text Editor without entering text, click the close icon at the top right corner of the window. To reopen the editor, click Text in the menu. You can also remove all text in the editor by clicking Clear.
6. In the built-in editor, to include special characters, click Spec Chars and select the required characters from the list.
7. Click (Apply) when you are finished (in the built-in editor), or save your text (in an external editor).
A graphic representing the text appears on the cursor when it is placed in the Creo Elements/Direct Annotation window.
8. Under Appearance, at any time during creation of the text, you may specify various attributes. Most of these settings are intuitive, but it may be helpful to know:
Style:
Select a Standard, Small, Medium, or Large text. You can set your own defaults for these options. See Label/text/ style settings.
Abs Angle:
The deviation from the horizontal of the text block.
Adjust:
The point on the text block where the cursor is attached.
Ratio:
The ratio of character width to height.
Slant:
The deviation from vertical of the characters in the text; values must be between -80 and +80 degrees (approximately ±1.39 rad or ±88.88 grad).
Linespace:
The distance between lines.
Fill:
For block fonts.
9. Click the text position in the viewport.
10. Continue to click positions for the text, create new text, or click OK to end the operation.
Click and drag the text to re-position it.
The Ref Line button is active when the owner of the text is a valid reference line owner (a view or a sketch). Click it to open the Create Ref Line menu and draw a reference line from the current text to a target element in the drawing.
The settings controlling the appearance of text can be changed in the Text Settings menu.
