Common Library Creation and Maintenance
The
Common Library is a special Project that is created during installation. By default, it contains all supplied
Graph Template,
Report Design, and
Report Binder files. For descriptions of all supplied files, see
Supplied Files. When you create a Project, all files in the Common Library are enabled for use.
You can open this special Project in the
Project Properties window. For more information, see
Opening a Project in the Project Properties Window. When the
Common Library is open, you can copy
Graph Template,
Import/Export Template,
Report Binder,
Report Design, and library files that you have created in other Projects into it. For more information, see
Copying Files from Another Project into the Project Open in the Project Properties Window. You can then enable these copied files in other Projects. For more information, see
Common Library File Enablement.
You cannot open files of the following types from the Common Library because the formatting of these files requires that they be tied to support files, such as Data Definition, Table Format, Form Design, and List Library files, which exist only in standard Projects.
• Assembly Library
• FRACAS Lookup Table
• Graph Template
• Import/Export Template
• RBD Diagram Library
• RBD Block Library
• Prediction Parts Library
• Report Design
If you attempt to open any of the above file types from the Common Library, a window opens, indicating that the file cannot be opened because doing so requires support files that are contained only in standard Projects. This window also explains that you can open files of these types from within standard Projects that use them. Once you close this window and the Common Library, you can open any standard Project that uses these files and then open the files themselves.
If you delete the
Common Library for any reason, you can create a new one. For more information, see
Creating the Common Library
