Inserting a Data Set
In the LDA Navigator, you insert a data set in the hierarchical tree structure using an Insert command from either the Insert menu or the shortcut menu.
*
To insert a warranty data set, you use the Warranty Data Set Wizard. For more information, see Inserting a Warranty Data Set.
1. Click in the LDA Navigator to activate it.
2. Under Analysis type, select the type of analysis for which to insert a data set.
3. Under Data sets, select the row containing the folder under which to insert the data set.
If the appropriate folder does not exist, first insert it as described in Inserting a Data Set Folder.
4. To insert the data set, do one of the following:
Select Insert and the command for the data set type.
Right-click the row and select the Insert command for the data set type.
The LDA in the default name for a new Weibull parametric or non-parametric life data set is an abbreviation for life data analysis.
If a data set with the default name already exists, the name is followed by (X), where (X) is the next available numeric value.
You can rename the data set, perhaps assigning it a name that reflects critical parameters.
5. In the panes for entering parameter values, make any modifications to override the default values inherited from the folder.
6. In the one or more windows for data entry, enter data points for the data set.
For any type of Weibull life data set or a degradation data set, in addition to entering data points directly in the Weibull Data Points table, you can copy and paste data into it. When the ALT module is in use, you can either enter data directly in or copy and paste it into the ALT Data Points table. Additionally, for Weibull and ALT life data sets only, you can import data or generate random data points. For more information, see:
For descriptions of the panes that appear for each Weibull or ALT analysis type, see:
