Specifying Spares Optimization Parameters
As described in RBD Spares Files, you insert spares pools so that they can be assigned to blocks representing repairable or replaceable components. To calculate optimal quantities for spares and replenishment levels, anytime prior to running RBD calculations, you specify the values to use for the optimizations in the Spares Optimization Parameters window.
While the following procedure describes how to open this window from the RBD menu, you can also open it by clicking View spares parameters on the Optimize page under RBD in the Calculate window. For more information, see Optimize Page.
1. In the System file, click in the RBD Table to make it active.
2. Select RBD > Optimization Parameters > Spares.
The Spares Optimization Parameters window opens. For more information, see Spares Optimization Parameters Window.
3. Specify the values to use for spares pools where optimal spare quantities and replenishment levels are to calculated.
4. When finished, click Close.
The next time you run RBD calculations, the values specified in the Spares Optimization Parameters window, along with the values specified on the Optimize page in the Calculate window, are used for optimal spares and replenishment quantities where indicated. For more information, see RBD Calculation How-Tos.
