Using 217Plus and PRISM Failure Rate Adjustment Methods with Other Models
If the 217Plus or PRISM model is licensed, you can use Prediction Process Grade files, Prediction Bayesian files, and predecessor analysis with all but the FIDES, IEC TR 62380, and RDF 2000 models.
*
FIDES models support their own Process Grade files for adjusting base failure ates calculated for assemblies. For more information, see Prediction FIDES Process Grade Files.
To use 217Plus and PRISM failure rate adjustment methods with another supported model, temporarily switch the model selected in the assembly’s Calculation Data pane to 217Plus or PRISM so that Process Grade file and Bayesian file are available fields.
To use a Prediction Process Grade file, select it for Process Grade file, which is shown in both the Calculation Data pane and the Process Grade pane. For more information, see Calculation Data for 217Plus Parts Stress or PRISM Model or Process Grade Pane.
To use a Prediction Bayesian file, select it for Bayesian file in the Calculation Data pane.
To perform predecessor analysis, complete the Predecessor pane. For more information, see Predecessor Pane.
After specifying selections for 217Plus and PRISM failure rate adjustment methods, in the Calculation Data pane, switch back to the original model selection.
Under Prediction in the System file properties, the following properties control the manner in which Prediction Process Grade files are used with other supported models. For more information, see Prediction System File Properties.
Apply default Process Grades. This checkbox indicates whether you want to apply either the default Process Grade file or the specified or inherited Process Grade file to the failure rate calculated by a model other than 217Plus or PRISM. This checkbox does not affect the 217Plus or PRISM model because Prediction Process Grade files are always applied to the failure rates calculated by these models. It affects only the failure rates calculated by the other models with which you can use Prediction Process Grade files.
Trickle down Process Grade factors. This checkbox indicates whether the Prediction Process Grade file specified for a parent assembly is inherited by lower-level assemblies without an override selection. This checkbox affects how Prediction Process Grade files are used by all models that support them. When it is selected (default), Prediction Process Grade file selections are inherited by lower-level assemblies without override selections.
