Linking Weibull Data to a Part
As described in Parts Linked to a Weibull Data Set, when the Weibull module is in use, you can link the data in a Weibull life data set to the part so that its failure rate is calculated based on this data.
1. In the System Tree Items table or Parts Table, select the part that to link to a Weibull data set. This part must be assigned a part classification of General.
2. Select Edit > Link Data. The Link Data window opens.
3. For Data Source, select Weibull. This makes Weibull Data Set available.
4. Select the life data set from those inserted in the Weibull module and click OK. A data link to this life data set is created.
The Prediction Data pane for the linked part displays a Linked to Weibull Analysis message. Additionally, display-only fields show the characteristic life, shape parameter, and minimum life values specified for the linked Weibull data set.
5. For Time, which is a parameter available in the Prediction Data pane, enter the time at which to calculate the failure rate for the linked part. If you do not enter a value, the mission time specified in the Project’s Mission Profile file is used.
When prediction calculations run, the failure rate calculated from the Weibull life data set is used for this linked part. For more information, see Calculating Prediction Results.
