Calculating Prediction Results
Calculating prediction results consists of making the appropriate selections and then starting the process.
1. To open the Calculate window, do one of the following:
On the standard toolbar, click Calculate.
Select System > Calculate.
Press F8.
2. On the Calculation Selection page, select Prediction. If this checkbox is cleared, prediction calculations do not run.
3. Complete the Prediction page. For more information, see Prediction Calculation Properties.
4. After entering any additional data for other calculations to perform, click OK to run the requested calculations.
The Calculation Progress window opens, displaying progress as calculations run. When they finish, the View Calculation Results window opens. If calculations for multiple modules are performed, prediction calculation results appear on a Prediction Results page. For more information, see Prediction Calculation Results.
5. When finished viewing results, click Close.
Once you complete this process, you can view results for assemblies and parts in the System Tree Items table and Parts Table. You can also see calculation results for system tree items by previewing or printing or print prediction reports. For more information, see Prediction Custom Graphs. If you selected Mission calculations on the Prediction page in the Calculate window, you can also view mission reliability results. For more information, see Viewing Mission Reliability Results.

The Telcordia Issue 3 and Telcordia Issue 2 models allow you to specify the upper confidence level to use in failure rate calculations. For more information, see Telcordia Issue 3 and Issue 2 Fields. In prior Telcordia and Bellcore models, the upper confidence level is assumed to be 90%, which is also the case for MIL-HDBK-217 models. When using the Telcordia Issue 3 or Telcordia Issue 2 model, the default for the upper confidence level is 90%. To use a different upper confidence level, prior to running prediction calculations, specify the value in Telcordia upper confidence level, which appears under Prediction in the System file properties. For more information, see Prediction System File Properties.
