Completing Global Change Wizard Pages for Part Data Updates
The Global Change Wizard displays the Select Part Type page when you update part data in either a System file or a Prediction Parts Library file.

To complete this page and subsequent pages, do the following:
1. On the Select Part Type page, select the appropriate option.
Option
Description
Calculation model
The reliability prediction standard or model for the part types to update. Choices include all licensed models as well as < Any model >, which is the default.
Category
The type of part to update. Choices include < Any Category >, which is the default. Other choices include either all General part categories or, if a specific model having its own part categories is selected, the categories for this model. The item that you choose in this field affects the items available in the list for Subcategory.
Subcategory
The subtype of the part to update. When < Any Subcategory > is selected for Category, the list includes only < Any Subcategory >. When a specific part category is selected, the list includes all subcategories for this category.
2. When finished, click Next. The Select Parameters page appears.
3. Select the appropriate fields.

Available fields
Lists all of the part fields that can be updated based on the calculation model, category, and subcategory selected on the selected on the Select Part Types page.
Selected fields
Lists the part fields that have been selected for updating. You can use the standard Windows drag-and-drop technique to reorder the fields in the list. The first field in the list is the first field updated, the second field in the list is the second field updated, and so on.
When clicked, the field selected in the Available fields list is moved to the Selected fields list. You can also double-click a field in the Available fields list to move it to the Selected fields list.

4. When all fields to update appear in the Selected fields list, click Next. The Change pages that appear depend on the fields to update. Each Change page indicates the field for which you are supplying information.
The following table describes the Change pages for different part parameters. When you complete a Change page and click Next, the Select Blank Action page appears if you did not select the option for clearing the value. On the Select Blank Action page, you must indicate what to do when the value for the field is blank. For more information about completing this page, go to step 5.

Change Checkbox
This page appears for each checkbox. You can choose to set or clear the checkbox.
Change List
This page appears for each text field that has a list assigned. You can select a new list, step the current list choice up or down, or clear the field. To select a new list, select Set to (default) and, in the field to the right, choose the new list. To change the list by stepping up or down though the choices in the list, select Step and, in the field to the right, indicate the appropriate number of steps to move up or down in the list. Choices are from -10 to 10. However, if the list contains more choices, you can type the appropriate number of steps in this field. To clear the list value, select Clear. For more information about this page, see Change List Page.
Change Number
This page appears for each numeric field. You can enter a new value or clear the current value. To enter a new value, select New value (default) and specify the new value in the field to the right. To clear the current value, select Clear value.
Change Text
This page appears for each text field that does not have a list assigned. You can enter a new value by typing it in the field provided when New value is selected.
5. If the Select Blank Action page appears for a field, do the following:
a. Indicate what to do when the current value is blank.
The following table describes the options on the Select Blank Action page.

Update the blank value with the new data
When selected (default), the blank value is replaced with the new value.
Leave the value blank
When selected, a data field that is blank remains blank. It is not updated.
b. Once the appropriate action is selected, click Next.
When you are finished completing the Change pages and Select Blank Action pages for fields, the Confirm Changes page appears. No is the default. The Next button does not become available until Yes is selected. For more information about completing the Confirm Changes page, go to step 6.
6. When the Confirm Changes page appears, click Yes to make the specified changes.
A confirmation window opens. Click Yes to continue or No to return to the Confirm Changes page.
7. Click Next. The Wizard Complete page appears, indicating that these changes cannot be undone.
If you click Back instead of Finish, the default selection of No is restored on the Confirm Changes page.
8. Click Finish. The Global Change window opens, indicating the progress made as prediction part data is updated. The amount of time necessary to complete this process depends on the amount of data to change and the number of parts selected.
Once all changes are made, a window opens, indicating the number of parts for which prediction data was modified.
9. Click OK.
