Prediction Calculation Properties
When the Calculate command is selected, the Calculate window opens. The single page for the Prediction module specifies information about the calculations to perform. The following table describes the properties on the Prediction page. If a property is unavailable, the calculation model selected for the top-most assembly (system) does not support such calculations.
Property
Description
Mission calculations
Indicates whether to perform mission-related calculations based on the data in the Project’s Mission Profile file. For more information, see Mission Reliability Calculations. When selected, the following results are calculated and stored for all parts and assemblies in the active system tree configuration: failure rate, MTBF, reliability, and availability. The failure rate calculation takes the percentage of the mission phase into account. For dormant phases, the dormant failure rate is used, taking the dormant environment for the phase into account. These mission-related results are stored in the Mission Reliability Results table in the System file. For more information, see Viewing Mission Reliability Results. You can insert the fields in which these results are stored in the System Tree Items table and Parts Table or on a custom Prediction form. You can also create Report Design files that include these results.
Allocations
Indicates whether to run reliability allocation calculations. For more information, see Reliability Allocation Calculations.
Use alternate MIL-HDBK-217 resistor calculation
Indicates whether to use the standard or alternate MIL-HDBK-217 calculation for resistors that are to have their failure rates calculated by this model. When this checkbox is cleared (default), the standard calculation is used. This means that Pi P uses operating power. When this checkbox is selected, the alternate calculation is used. This means that Pi P uses rated power.
Save Pi factor results
Indicates whether to save results for Pi factors. When this checkbox is selected (default), results are saved. When it is cleared, results are not saved. You would clear this checkbox only if saving Pi factor results takes a really long time and you wanted to skip this step.
Derating calculations
Specifies whether to use the nominal or worst case values derating analysis. The default is Nominal. For more information, see Derating Parameters.
Mission profile
Specifies the mission profile to use for mission-related calculations. A profile must be selected, even if Mission calculations is cleared, because a mission time is required for various prediction calculations. The default for this property is the first profile defined in the Mission Profile file. When the Project’s Mission Profile file is created, it contains a single profile named Default Profile. In this default profile, the mission time is 100 hours. However, you can select any profile you have inserted in the Project’s Mission Profile file.
