Data Source Page
In the Properties window, the Data Source page indicates the origin for the calculation data. For a gate, only one heading is shown: Logical condition. For an event, three headings are shown: Logical condition, Parameter definition, and Library event.
Property
Description
Logical condition
The selection you make under this heading determines the logical behavior of the gate or event. Choices are:
Normal. When selected (default), the gate or event operates normally. It does not have a fixed condition of TRUE or FALSE. Instead, it is assigned a TRUE or FALSE value based on FTA calculations.
True. When selected, the output for the gate or event is always TRUE.
False. When selected, the output for the gate or event is always FALSE.
*
When True or False is selected for an event, all properties under the Parameter definition heading are unavailable.
Parameter definition
This heading is shown only for an event. The selection you make under this heading specifies the source for parameter values. Choices are:
User defined. When selected (default), properties on the Calculation Data page are available so that you can provide the data you want to use for calculating the event. The properties in which you enter data depend on the FTA calculation type for the System file. The parameter definition for any event in an FTA Event Library file is always User defined. For more information, see Event Calculation Properties.
CCF Group. When selected, a CCF (common cause failure) group can be selected in the field to the right. All groups inserted in the Project’s FTA CCF Groups file are available for selection. The default is the first group in this file. If no groups are inserted, this property is unavailable. For more information, see FTA CCF Groups File. For an SAE event, this property is always unavailable because SAE trees do not support CCF groups.
Linked to assembly, part, FMEA, or Markov data. When selected, the event has been linked to an item in a different module so that calculated results for this item are used for parameter values. This choice is display-only. You can link an event to one of the following: a system tree item; an FMEA item, mode, or event; or a Markov diagram. When an event is linked, the other choices under this heading are unavailable. To make them available, you must remove the data link. For more information, see Data Links.
*
If an SAE event is linked to a system tree item or to a supported FMEA data level, all other properties except those on the Latency page are unavailable. If an SAE event is linked to a Markov diagram, all other properties, including those on the Latency page, are unavailable. All calculation data needed for the SAE event is obtained from the linked item.
Library event
The heading is shown only for an event. The first property indicates whether an event is a library event. For more information, see FTA Event Library Files.
Library identifier
The unique identifier assigned to an event that has been inserted or updated from an FTA Event Library file. This field is completed when you insert a library event into a fault tree. Additionally, you can enter the identifier for a library event. When you click Update, data for this library event is retrieved and copied to the current event. For more information, see Updating an Event with Library Event Properties from the Properties Window.
Library of retrieval
Indicates the FTA Event Library file in which the library event is stored. This field is display-only. It is completed when library event data is copied to the event.
