You can “test drive” Windchill Risk and Reliability by downloading and installing the Tryout version from the PTC website. Go to the Windchill Risk and Reliability page and click the option for downloading the 30-day free trial version. On the next page that appears, complete and submit the form.

The primary purpose of the Tryout version is to allow a prospective customer a 30-day trial period to test out the features of one or more modules. Once this trial period ends, information about how to license Windchill Risk and Reliability is shown upon start-up attempts.

When you run the Tryout version, or when you open a Tryout Project in a licensed Edition, Tryout appears in red on the far right side of the status bar. For more information, see Status Bar.

You can quickly place any licensed Edition in the Tryout mode by creating a Tryout Project. For more information, see Creating a Tryout Project. Opening a Tryout Project also places a licensed Edition in the Tryout mode. A Tryout Project is always a Team Project, even in the Enterprise Edition. This means that the Project consists of local files that are stored in the My Windchill Risk and Reliability Files folder for the current installation.

The Tryout mode allows you to easily evaluate modules that are not included in your license within the data limitations imposed on the Tryout version. Any time that a licensed version runs in the Tryout mode, Tryout is shown in the status bar until you next open or create a standard Project, which places you back in the licensed mode.

In an open Tryout Project, you can copy in files from only other Tryout Projects. Additionally, you can use only other Tryout Projects as templates from which to create Tryout Projects. When you return to the licensed mode, you can copy a Tryout Project into any standard Project.
