Edit Symbol Window
The Edit Symbol window contains four distinct areas: Picture, Preview, Colors, and Tools. The following table describes these areas. Clicking OK saves all changes you have made to the symbol prior to returning you to Symbol in the List Choices pane. Clicking Cancel discards all changes prior to returning you to this field. For more information, see Assigning and Customizing Symbols for List Items
Area
Description
Picture
Displays the image area (16 pixels x16 pixels) where you can use the controls provided in the Colors and Tools areas to create a custom symbol by either modifying an existing symbol or drawing a new one.
Preview
Displays the symbol in the size it appears when assigned to an item in a list.
Colors
Displays the color control, which you use to select a standard or custom color for the drawing controls in the Tools area. For more information, see Using the Color Control.
*
The top left pixel in the Picture area determines the transparency color. All pixels with that color are drawn with the background color of wherever the symbol is shown.
Tools
Provides controls for drawing and managing symbols. When you place the mouse cursor over a control in this area, a tooltip displays its function. The top six controls are for drawing, filling symbols with or selecting from symbol colors, and inserting lines, rectangles, and ellipses. The last row contains copy, paste, and clear controls. These controls provide the same type of functions as the Copy Symbol, Paste Symbol, and Remove Symbol commands in the Symbol control. The only difference is that they affect the symbol shown in the Picture area. For more information, see Symbol Commands.
