User Information Pane
When the Users area is selected, the User Information pane displays account information for the currently selected Windchill Risk and Reliability user. The Users pane in the LDAP Users area displays most of this same account information for users loaded from LDAP servers. For more information, see LDAP Users. The following table describes these options, noting any differences between the options in the Users area and LDAP Users area.
Option
Description
User name
The account name that the user enters to log in to Windchill Risk and Reliability applications. For a user inserted from the Users area, you can edit the user name here or in the Users pane. For a user loaded from an LDAP server, the user name is display-only.
Full name
The complete name of the user to further identify the users to system administrators. The completion of this field is for informational purposes only and is not required.
Email address
The email account for the user. The format is username@domain. When a new user is inserted, an email message containing account information can be sent to the user if an address is specified.
Company
The company for which the user works. The completion of this field is for informational purposes only and is not required. If a user is a contractor, you may want to enter the name of company for which he or she works.
Phone number
The work telephone number for the user. The completion of this field is for informational purposes only and is not required.
Employee ID
The employee ID for the user. The completion of this field is for informational purposes only and is not required.
Active
Indicates whether a user is allowed to log in to Windchill Risk and Reliability applications. For a user inserted from the Users area, you can select or clear this checkbox. When it is selected (default), the user can log in to applications. When it is cleared, the user cannot log in to applications.
*
The Administrators group must always have at least one active member. If you clear the checkbox for the last user assigned to this group, a window opens, indicating the you cannot remove the last user of the Administrators group. After you click OK, you can designate another user as a member of this group so that you can then clear the checkbox for what is no longer the last user.
For a user loaded from an LDAP server, this checkbox is selected and unavailable. LDAP users are always considered to be active. If you want to remove LDAP users, you must delete them from the LDAP Users area.
Set Password
For a user inserted from the Users area, you can click this button to open the Set Password window, where you can set a password for the user account. For a user loaded from an LDAP sever, this button is not shown. Passwords cannot be set in the Administrator application for LDAP users. They must use the passwords specified for their user accounts on their LDAP servers.
Can create Projects
Indicates whether the user can create Projects in the Windchill Risk and Reliability database. When the checkbox is cleared, which is the default for a newly inserted user, the user cannot create Enterprise Projects. When it is selected, the user can create Enterprise Projects.
*
If a user is a member of the Administrators group, both Can create Projects and Can delete Projects are selected and unavailable. Because any user who has Can Create Projects or Can Delete Projects permission can open a Project in the Project Properties window in Windchill Risk and Reliability, you should be judicious in granting these permissions and assigning users to the Administrators group.
Can delete Projects
Indicates whether the user can delete Projects in the Windchill Risk and Reliability database. When this checkbox is cleared, which is the default for a newly inserted user, the user cannot delete Enterprise Projects. When it is selected, the user can delete Enterprise Projects. Projects can be deleted only from the desktop application.
Access other users’ records
Indicates whether the user can see certain table records inserted by other users. For these tables, a User field stores the name of who inserted a record.
For the Windchill FMEA module, a User field exists in the following tables and their subtables: FMEA Worksheet, FMEA Control Plans, and FMEA DVPs.
For the Windchill FRACAS module, a User field exists in the following tables and their subtables: FRACAAS Incidents and FRACAS Maintenance Logs.
For the Problems table, which can be used with multiple modules, a User field exists in it and its subtables.
When this checkbox is selected (default), the user can see records inserted by other users. When it is cleared, the user can see only records where their user name is stored in the User field. If this field is blank because the record was converted from an version prior to its existence, the user can see the record. Only a user who is logged into Windchill Risk and Reliability as a member of the Administrators group can modify the value stored for User.
Unlock
This button appears in the User Information pane only if the user has been locked out of applications due to log-in failures. Additionally, the following status message appears to the left of the button: *This account is locked due to log-in failures. To remove the lock on the account immediately, you would click the button.
Member of Groups
Shows the Windchill Risk and Reliability groups to which the user belongs. All groups inserted in the Groups area are shown. You can click the Select All button or Clear All button to select or clear all groups and then customize your selections from there.
For an LDAP user, you assign users to one or more Windchill Risk and Reliability groups. In the LDAP Users area, you can see the LDAP groups to which an LDAP user belongs. The Member of groups option in this area shows all LDAP groups to which the user belongs, including those not inserted in the LDAP Groups area.
