Assigning Users to a Group from the Users Area
You generally assign
Windchill Risk and Reliability users to
Windchill Risk and Reliability groups from the
Groups area as described in
Assigning Users to a Group from the Groups Area. However, from the
Users area, you can assign any
Windchill Risk and Reliability user to one or more
Windchill Risk and Reliability groups. Likewise, from the
LDAP Users area, you can assign any LDAP user to one or more
Windchill Risk and Reliability groups. The following procedure is applicable to both of these areas.
1. In the shortcut bar, if the appropriate Users area is not active, click its icon to make it active.
2. In the Users pane, select the user to assign to a group.
3. In the User Information pane, select the groups to assign to the user. You can click the Select All button or Clear All button to select or clear all groups and then customize your selections from there.
To designate a user as a system administrator, you must assign that user to the Administrators group. To remove administrative permissions from a user, you must remove that user from the Administrators group.
When a user is assigned to more than one group, the permissions granted to the user are based on the group that the user selects for the session when logging into a Windchill Risk and Reliability application.
In some cases, removing a user from a
Windchill Risk and Reliability group causes a window to open. For more information, see
Group Removal - Special Cases.
To view all of the LDAP groups to which an LDAP user belongs, you can click the
LDAP Groups pane that appears in the
LDAP Users area. The
Member of groups list in this pane includes all LDAP groups to which the LDAP user is assigned, regardless of whether these groups are inserted in the
LDAP Groups area. For more information, see
LDAP Settings, Groups, and Users.
