Opening Parts in BOM Transformer
You can open a part or assembly in BOM Transformer using the Open in BOM Transformer action from the following locations:
• Folder Browser page
• Search Results page
• Information page of a part, change task, or change notice
To open multiple parts in a BOM Transformer, select multiple parts at one of the above mentioned locations and click the Open in BOM Transformer with Context action. The Quick Filter dialog box appears in which you need to set fields required to open a trimmed structure.
In Quick Filter, fill out the required attributes and specify the Parent Context in upstream and downstream section using picker. Otherwise, select the Smart Collection check box and select a smart collection from the list. You can also specify the Variant Specification number. Click OK to open the part structure in BOM Transformer. This part structure consists of the selected part, its parent part, and child parts. Consider the following scenarios related with selection of entities in the Folder Browser page and Search Results page, Affected Objects and Resulting Objects tables of change task and change notice information page:

The Quick Filter dialog box appears. Fill out the required attributes and specify the Parent Context in upstream and downstream section using picker. Otherwise, select the Smart Collection check box and select a smart collection from the list. Based on the selection, a trimmed structure opens in BOM Transformer. A part
Right-click and select Open in > Open in BOM Transformer
The selected part opens in BOM Transformer.
Multiple parts
Actions > Open in BOM Transformer with Context. Alternatively, right-click and select Open in BOM Transformer with Context.
The Quick Filter dialog box opens.
A part and a smart collection
Actions > Open > Open in BOM Transformer with Context. Alternatively, right-click and select Open in BOM Transformer with Context.
The selected part is considered as valid selection. The Quick Filter dialog box opens. The smart collection selection is disregarded.
Multiple parts and smart collections
Click Actions > Open > Open in BOM Transformer with Context . Alternatively, right-click and select Open in BOM Transformer with Context.
The selected parts are considered as valid selection. The Quick Filter dialog box opens. The multiple smart collection selections are disregarded.
A smart collection
Click Actions > Open > Open in BOM Transformer with Context. Alternatively, right-click and select Open in > Open in BOM Transformer
The selected smart collection opens in BOM Transformer.
Multiple smart collections
Click Actions > Open > Open in BOM Transformer with context. Alternatively, right-click and select Open in > Open in BOM Transformer with Context
An error message appears indicating that the selection is not valid.
Multiple parts, smart Collections, and documents
Click Actions > Open > Open in BOM Transformer with context. Alternatively, right-click and select Open in > Open in BOM Transformer with Context
The selected parts are considered as valid selection. The Quick Filter dialog box opens. Other selections like documents are disregarded.
A document
Actions > Open > Open in BOM Transformer with Context
An error message appears indicating that the selection is not valid.
A process plan
Actions > Open > Open in BOM Transformer with Context
An error message appears indicating that the selection is not valid.
