Server Side Configurations
The following server-side configurations must be performed on the installed Servigistics InService system. You must configure:
1. Users:
Add the Servigistics InService users who will access the Servigistics InService Offline system. Users are managed from the Users utility on the administration home page.
For more information see Users.
*
It is strongly recommended that you allocate a single user to a laptop running a Servigistics InService Offline system. Allocation of multiple users with administrative privileges results in a risk for LDAP data related to misuse of LDAP administrative tools.
Allowing non-administrative user access on a laptop running a Servigistics InService Offline system increases the data accessibility risk. If the laptop is shared among multiple users, ensure that only the administrative user has access to the system installation folder, including the license data and LDAP information.
2. Profiles:
Create the profiles needed to determine the parts and service information which will be available to the service group using the Servigistics InService Offline system. Also create profiles to specify which users have privileges to activate the Servigistics InService Offline system, and which users can update the content available to the service group. Profiles are managed from the Profile utility on the administration home page.
Assign users to profiles. Existing Servigistics InService users can be explicitly added to the profile by searching for and selecting the user from Search users text field, even if they do not match the enterprise attributes defined for the profile.
For more information, see Profiles
3. Service Groups:
Create the service group used to manage the Servigistics InService Offline system, including assigning at least one administrator for the service group, adding members, and defining the license configuration. For offline systems that do not use web activation, see Manually Generating an Administrative Package.
4. Data Packet
Create the data packet of parts and service information for the service group using a TAL task named ‘Create Full Packets for Offline’. These packets can be found or generated @viewer location <InS_Home>/InS_Data/Work/uploadPackets, and deliver the data packet to the service group administrator.
These generated packets can also be listed under Download Center by doing some configuration.
For more information, see Download Center.
*
You must make certain configuration to enable data packets to be transferred to an offline system. For more information see Enabling the Creation of Incremental Data Packages Offline.
