Configuring a System Job for Current-Day Optimization
*
Current-Day Optimization is a Production Beta feature in Service Board 25.1.
To begin configuring Current-Day Optimization, you create and configure a System Job to define the execution frequency, including the time zone. After you complete the steps in this following procedure, you continue the process by creating a Current-Day Optimization record.
To configure a System Job for Current-Day Optimization:
1. In Max Admin, click System Management () > System Management > System Jobs, and then in the list view, in the top left corner, click Create ().
2. On the record page, in the Name field, enter a name for the record, and then to define the execution frequency, do one of the following:
For advanced scheduling patterns, in the Cron Expression field, configure a cron expression.
For simple repeat intervals, in the Trigger Interval fields, configure the number of time units between each execution, for example, 2 HOURS.
*
If you configure values in both the Cron Expression and Trigger Interval fields, the Cron Expression field value does not take effect.
To prevent dispatch conflicts, ensure that there is no overlap between Current-Day Optimization system jobs. Ideally, configure single Jobs in only one Current-Day Optimization system job. If the same Job is configured in multiple Current-Day Optimization system jobs, schedule those jobs to run at varying time to avoid assigning the same Job to multiple Resources.
In cases where multiple Current-Day Optimization system jobs share the same Resource pool, be sure to avoid scheduling overlapping execution schedules. Otherwise, multiple Jobs might be dispatched to the same Resource simultaneously.
3. In the User field, specify the user under whose permissions the System Job is to be executed, and then in the Time Zone field, configure the time zone accurately, and then in the Operation field, select the Current-Day Optimization Operation record that ships with Service Board.
*
The user you configure in the User field must be linked to a valid Salesforce user profile that is assigned the Service Board Administrator role. This identity is used to retrieve data and persist proposals that are later synced to Salesforce.
Accurate time zone configuration is critical for determining the starting point of the one-day scheduling horizon. The selected time zone should align with the selected Job’s access hours and the related Resource’s shift configuration to ensure correct optimization across time zones.
4. After you review your configured values, in the top left corner, click Save and Close () to activate the System Job.
5. In cases where your business needs require an execution interval shorter than the minimum supported value of 1 MINUTE, to disable standard Current-Day Optimization validation, in Max Designer, click Developer Tools () > Operations, and then in the list view, click Current-Day Optimization System Job Validator.
6. On the record page, clear the Active check box and then in the top left corner, click Save and Close ().
7. Click Development Actions () > Synchronize.
*
Short execution frequencies cause significantly increased resource consumption. This impact is compounded in scenarios where high data volumes are processed or large numbers of System Jobs are scheduled.
To maintain optimal system performance, a minimum job frequency of 15 minutes or longer is recommended.
