About Change Logs
You can enable Change Logs to record full change histories of individual records. This provides the capability to trace every change made to records, which is useful for troubleshooting purposes.
To configure Object-Level Change Logs, you select the Change Logs option in the Object record that is related to the records for which you want to log changes. To configure Field-Level Change Logs, you select the Change Logs option in the Field record that is linked to the Object record that is related to the records for which you want to log changes.

When you configure the Change Logs option in Object records and later disable it, you cannot view previously recorded Change Logs until you re-enable the option.
Field-Level Change Logs are supported only for calculated fields related to objects in which the Change Logs option is enabled.
When the Upgrade Safe option is disabled in Field records, the Change Logs option must be configured.
When you configure the Change Logs option in Field records and later disable it, field changes are not recorded, but you can still view previously recorded changes on the Change Logs page.
