Resource Dependencies
Resource dependency is applicable for two or more work orders depending on each other based on a resource.
Consider an example where two work orders are created for a job, and both need to start simultaneously. In such a scenario, these work orders must be assigned to two different technicians.
The following resource dependencies are supported.
Type of Dependency
Description
Scenario
Example
Same resource
The work orders in the dependency group must have the same resource.
If there are two work orders - WO A and WO B, the following dependencies are applied to achieve the Same Resource correlation:
WO A and WO B must have the same resource assigned.
The resource can either be a technician or an equipment.
There are two work orders for a new cold storage system - for assembly and configuration. Both must be assigned to the same technician so that they can perform the tasks at the location.
Different resource
The work orders in the dependency group must have different resources.
If there are two work orders - WO A and WO B, the following dependencies are applied to achieve the Different Resource correlation:
WO A and WO B must have different resources assigned.
The resource can either be a technician or an equipment.
Two servers at a data center must start at the same time. Two work orders with the Different Resource dependency are created for this task.
