External Work Orders
Work orders scheduled through manual scheduling assisted scheduling or any other external methods are considered external work orders in Schedule Optimization. External work orders are not considered for scheduling or re-scheduling in Schedule Optimization. In addition, work orders are not scheduled by Schedule Optimization in the time windows where the external work orders are scheduled. This is to ensure no overlapping or conflict in technicians' calendars.
External work orders are recognized in Schedule Optimization with the Locked By DC field of the work order.
The following scenarios are applicable for external work orders:
The Locked By DC field in the work order is automatically set to True when you schedule a work order manually.
The Locked By DC field can also be set to True manually for any work order. Such work orders are not scheduled or moved by Schedule Optimization.
Work orders scheduled by an external or a third-party optimization mechanism also use the Locked By DC field so that the work orders are not considered in Schedule Optimization for scheduling.
Manually scheduled work orders with the associated territory different from technician-mapped territory are also respected. Schedule Optimization respects the manually-scheduled work order for the technician's route. Consider the following example:
A work order is associated with the Halifax territory.
The dispatcher assigns the work order to technician Paul manually. Paul is mapped to the Montreal territory.
The work order is respected when Schedule Optimization builds the route for Paul, and no overlaps occur.

The external work orders feature is available for all optimization types.
