Configuring Last Minute Rescheduling
The Schedule Optimization engine can handle last-minute changes gracefully when last-minute rescheduling is enabled. The Schedule Optimization engine readjusts the route accordingly without invalidating technician routes.
The last-minute rescheduling caters to scheduling challenges in various scenarios such as :
Technician starting earlier than planned
A work order taking longer than expected
A technician calling in sick
A customer canceling at the last minute
You can enable the last-minute rescheduling option using the AllowLastMinuteRescheduling configuration parameter. Setting this flag to true enables the Schedule Optimization engine to accommodate last-minute rescheduling scenarios gracefully.
The following table describes the scenarios and outcomes:
Last Minute Rescheduling Enabled?
Likely Outcome
Yes
Routes are less likely to be inactivated by Schedule Optimization when you enable last-minute rescheduling. There is more flexibility for the dispatchers to update the events completely within the dispatch threshold time frame.
No
Routes are more likely to be inactivated by Schedule Optimization if you do not enable last-minute rescheduling. There is less flexibility for the dispatchers to update the events completely within the dispatch threshold time frame.
The engine is likely to inactivate the route when there are last-minute interventions so that the dispatcher can handle the route manually.
Based on your business scenario and requirement, you can choose to enable last-minute rescheduling or not.
