Best Practices
The following are the best practices in Schedule Optimization:
• When the Real-time Optimization job is about to run for the very first time, ensure that there are only a few work orders (fewer than five) for scheduling. This results in quick job initiation, and you do not have to wait for a long time for the job to complete.
• Ensure that work orders have complete data. This enables Schedule Optimization to perform the most optimized scheduling. For example, if the Apply Business Hours option is checked in the work order, that work order is scheduled within the business hours of the territory.
• Do not use 24 hours for Territory and Technicians business hours.
• Territory business hours, related technicians working hours, and break hours must be in the same time zone.
• Do not create overlapping events.
• Always provide sufficient drive time for manually scheduled work order events and geolocation events.
• Enable ServiceMax Job logs for debugging issues, if any. For more information, see
SET001.
• Provide correct and valid email address in the dispatch process for success and error emails.
• When the Real-time Optimization job is running, do not update the work order fields for the work orders being scheduled by the job, as it may cause synchronization issues.
