Defining Counter-based Coverage
Some products generate ongoing readings such as usage hours, cycles, or mileage through embedded or external devices. These readings, known as counters. They help determine customer entitlements. ServiceMax lets you set up warranty coverage based on these counters so that entitlements match actual product usage.
Prerequisites
Before defining counter-based coverage:
• Make sure all relevant counters for your products are already defined in ServiceMax.
• If you do not see the expected counters while configuring coverage, contact your ServiceMax Administrator for assistance.
Supported Use Cases
• Auto-Entitlement in Cases: Counter-based coverage is supported in auto-entitlement workflows. When a new Case is created, ServiceMax can automatically can check counter values to cover the product.
• Interactive Entitlement: Counter-based coverage is not supported in interactive entitlement in this release.
Using Counter-Based Coverage
Once counters are defined for your products, you can associate them with warranty terms to create coverage rules based on actual usage. These rules help ensure that entitlements are granted only when usage thresholds are met or exceeded.
For more information about defining the counters for the products, see
