Use Case
A field technician at Iniscope service organization performs preventive maintenance on MRI machines.
Service planners configure the MRI Preventive Maintenance Work Plan with task dependencies to ensure tasks are executed in sequence. For safety compliance, the planner defines that inspection must start before calibration begins using a Start to Start dependency. Also, the planner schedules tasks on the Work Order and assign them to a technician
On 15 May 2026 at 9:00 AM, the technician opens a Work Order for scheduled maintenance.
The technician reviews the tasks with the following details:
Task 1: Equipment Inspection (Primary task)
Task 2: Calibration (Current task)
Dependency type: Start-to-Start
Once the technician attempts to start the Calibration task, the system checks the configured dependency.
The system verifies whether the primary task (Inspection) has a status other than New. Since Inspection has not started, the Calibration task remains blocked.
As a result, the technician first starts the Inspection task by updating its status to In Progress.
When the technician returns to the Calibration task, the New status option is enabled.
This ensures tasks are initiated in the correct order, improving safety and compliance.
