Exporting Modeler systems and sub-systems to Windchill PDMLink (Integration for PTC Windchill)
The exporting of Modeler Blocks to Windchill PDMLink is a two part process:
Firstly, using Windchill Exporter you export Blocks, Block Properties and variability information from Modeler to Windchill import files (JAR files).
Secondly, using Windchill PDMLink you import those Windchill import files to create Parts in Product and Library containers.
To export Modeler blocks to Windchill import files:
1. Set up Windchill for use with Windchill Exporter. How?
2. If required, create a Windchill Exporter Parameter Configuration file for setting the values of the Windchill parameters on the Destination Selection page. How?
Ensure that Parameter Configuration file has been fully tested and verified.
3. In Modeler, locate a Block, Block Property, Variation Point or Package that you want to export to Windchill.
When you start Windchill Exporter from a Block or Block Property:
You can select Blocks and Block Properties to export.
You can then select Variation Points and Variants that are linked to those Blocks and Block Properties through Artifact Dependencies.
When you start Windchill Exporter from a Variation Point:
You can select Variation Points and Variants to export.
You can then select Blocks and Block Properties that are linked to those Variation Points and Variants through Artifact Dependencies.
When you start Windchill Exporter from a Package:
Windchill Exporter allows you to select Blocks, Block Properties and Variation Points to export from the Package and its child Packages. You can also include other Blocks, Block Properties and Variation Points from the model to export.
*
You can export additional items by dragging those items from Modeler to the Source Selection pages.
4. Right-click the Block, Block Property, Variation Point or Package, point to Tools, point to Windchill, and then click Export.
Modeler starts Windchill Exporter.
5. Set the options on each Windchill Exporter page as required to export the require items.
For information about the options that are available on a Windchill Exporter page, click the Help button.
If you are using a Parameter Configuration file to set parameter values, ensure that you select that file on the Configurations page of Windchill Exporter.
6. After the export is complete, review the log file for any problems.
To import the generated Windchill import files to Windchill PDMLink:
1. From Windchill PDMLink, open the Product or Library to which you want to import the generated Windchill import files.
2. Select the target folder, and then import the generated Windchill import files using to the Import From File command from the Action menu.
For information about importing Windchill import files to Windchill PDMLink, see the Windchill Help.
3. After importing the Windchill import files, assign the Options Set that has been created by the import to the required products.
