Setting up the default properties to include for extracted items and diagrams (Publisher)
This topic sets the default properties to include when adding a model item or diagram to a document structure item. After adding a model item or diagram to the document structure, you can change the default properties through the Properties pane.
When an item type is used as an assigned item, the default properties set for Dictionary Item is used unless default properties are set for that specific item type.
When a diagram type is used as an assigned item, the default properties set for Diagram is used unless default properties are set for that specific diagram type.
This topic has tasks for setting the default properties for the following items and diagrams:

A specific item type
A specific diagram type
A specific stereotype
To set default properties for all item types:
1. Open any Document Definition.
The Document Definition is not changed in any way, but a Document Definition must be open to enable the Defaults pane and Properties pane.
2. If the Defaults pane is not shown, show the Defaults pane: On the View menu, click the Defaults command.
3. In the Defaults pane, expand the Properties entry, and then expand the Generic Types entry.
4. Select the Dictionary Item entry.
5. In the Properties pane, for each property you do not want to include by default for all items:
a. Select the property.
b. Click the elete Item button.
6. In the Properties pane, for each new property you want to include by default for all items:
a. Select the Item Properties To Generate entry.
b. Click the New Item button.
The new property entry is selected and the drop-down list arrow is visible in the right-most cell.
c. In the right-most cell, click the drop-down list arrow, and then select the property you want to include by default.
To show private properties and Tag Definitions, select the Private and Tag Definition check boxes.
The properties you have set up will be used when an item type is assigned to a document structure item, unless default properties have been set up for that specific item type.
To set default properties for all diagram types:
1. Open any Document Definition.
The Document Definition is not changed in any way, but a Document Definition must be open to enable the Defaults pane and Properties pane.
2. If the Defaults pane is not shown, show the Defaults pane: On the View menu, click the Defaults command.
3. In the Defaults pane, expand the Properties entry, and then expand the Generic Types entry.
4. Select the Diagram entry.
5. In the Properties pane, for each property you do not want to include by default for all diagrams:
a. Select the property.
b. Click the Delete Item button.
6. In the Properties pane, for each new property you want to include by default for all diagrams:
a. Select the Item Properties To Generate entry.
b. Click the New Item button.
The new property entry is selected and the drop-down list arrow is visible in the right-most cell.
c. In the right-most cell, click the drop-down list arrow, and then select the property you want to include by default.
To show private properties and Tag Definitions, select the Private and Tag Definition check boxes.

4. Click the Add Diagram Type Defaults button, click the diagram type for which you want to define default properties, and then click OK.
5. In the Defaults pane, ensure that the diagram type you chose is selected.
6. In the Properties pane, for each property you do not want to include by default for the specific diagram type:
a. Select the property.
b. Click the Delete Item button.
Important: The EMFPlusOnly property of a diagram extracts the diagram image.
7. In the Properties pane, for each new property you want to include by default for the specific diagram type:
a. Select the Item Properties To Generate entry.
b. Click the New Item button.
The new property entry is selected and the drop-down list arrow is visible in the right-most cell.
c. In the right-most cell, click the drop-down list arrow, and then select the property you want to include by default.
To show private properties and Tag Definitions, select the Private and Tag Definition check boxes.

4. Click the AddStereotypeDefaults button, select the item type for which you want to define default properties, and then click OK.
5. In the Properties pane, for each property you do not want to include by default for the specific Stereotype:
a. Select the property.
b. Click the Delete Item button.
6. In the Properties pane, for each new property you want to include by default for the specific Stereotype:
a. Select the Item Properties To Generate entry.
b. Click the New Item button.
The new property entry is selected and the drop-down list arrow is visible in the right-most cell.
c. In the right-most cell, click the drop-down list arrow, and then select the property you want to include by default.
