Editing the Independent Demand for a Material
The independent demand for a material is demand that is independent from or in addition to any demand that is inherited from other material’s demand BOMs.
For example, you have a material named Wheel, which is included in the demand BOM for a material named Bicycle. Each unit of the Bicycle material requires 2 units of the Wheel material. If there is demand for 300 units of the Bicycle material, then 600 units of the Wheel material are required, meaning that the Inherited Demand for the Wheel material is 600. If you want an additional 50 Wheel units, then the Independent Demand for the Wheel material is 50. This means that the Total Demand for the Wheel material is 650.
To edit the independent demand for a material, complete the following steps:
1. On the Demand tab, click Edit next to the Independent Demand field. The Edit Independent Demand window opens.
2. Enter the independent demand quantity. The value must be 0 or a positive number up to 13 digits, including decimals and the decimal point.
3. Click Save. The Independent Demand and the Total Demand for the material are updated on the Demand tab.
You can click Cancel to discard your entry.
