About the Symbol Library
The Symbol Library contains 2D and 3D objects such as hand tools, warning signs, and direction arrows that you add to a figure to enhance or clarify the illustration. Pick symbols to add from a gallery of categorized thumbnail images in the Symbol Library dialog box. A set of default symbols is provided, and you can edit the symbol library in the following ways:
Add a 2D image file or 3D model file to the symbol library.
Delete a symbol.
Change a symbol’s title, description, and category.
Enable the display of a symbol’s title or description, or both, as a tooltip.
Rotate a 2D symbol and specify whether it should always face front.
Specify the default scale and coordinate system for a 3D symbol.
Symbols do not have attributes and do not appear in the sBOM or item list. Notes can point to symbols, but not Reference Notes.
When the library is locked you cannot add, edit or delete symbols in the library. These are the indications that the library is locked:
A lock symbol appears besides the Edit button
in the Creo Illustrate Options dialog box.
The Add, Edit, and Delete buttons appear dimmed in the Creo Illustrate Options dialog box.
The Manage button in the Home > Symbols list appears dimmed.
