To Splice a Cable
When you splice a cable, use the Splice Connection Manager dialog box to splice the wires in the Splicing Cable to wires in the Spliced Cable.
1. Click > . The Catalog Explorer dialog box opens.
2. Choose Groups from the Type list.
3. Select a cable from the artifact list and click
. Move the pointer over an existing cable. The pointer becomes T-shaped,
.
4. Click the cable to splice and then route it to either a port on a connector or to another cable. To route it to free space, right-click and choose Terminate from the shortcut menu. A splice is placed and the Splice Connection Manager dialog box opens. Use this dialog box to do the following:
Display spliced or splicing cable properties:
a. Click > . The Splice Connection Manager Columns dialog box opens.
b. Click the Splicing Cable tab or the Spliced Cable tab.
c. From the Not Displayed panel, select the parameter to display.
d. Click >>. The selected parameter appears in the Displayed panel. To remove a parameter from the Displayed panel, click <<.
e. Click OK. The Splice Connection Manager Columns dialog box closes. The selected parameters appear in the Splicing Cable panel or the Spliced Cable panel.
Apply a dataset to a spliced or splicing cable instance:
a. Click Apply Dataset in the spliced or splicing cable panel for whichever cable is to have a dataset applied. The Dataset Selector dialog box opens. Valid datasets are listed in the Dataset Selector panel.

b. Click Clear and then Update to return to the list of valid datasets.
c. Select the dataset to be applied.
d. Click Apply. The dataset parameters appear in the Splicing Cable or Spliced Cable panel.
e. Click OK. The Dataset Selector dialog box closes.
Change the splice type:
a. Select the spliced cable from the Spliced Cable panel.
b. Choose a splice type from the Splice Type panel:

—Butt splice
▪ 
—Through splice
▪ 
—No splice
Change order of spliced wires in the cable:
◦ Click
to demote the wire.
◦ Click
to promote the wire.
◦ To change places, select two spliced cables from the list and click
.
Select a different splice shape:
a. Click More. The Branch Shapes dialog box opens.
b. Select the required splice and click OK. The Branch Shapes dialog box closes.

5. Click OK.
Catalog Explorer. The Catalog Explorer dialog box opens.
