To Import a 2D IGES File in Drawing Mode
1. Click File > Open. The File Open dialog box opens.
2. In the Type box, select IGES (.igs, .iges). The IGES files in the current working directory are listed.
3. Click the name of the 2D IGES file that you want to import or browse to the required IGES file.
4. Click Open. The Import New Model dialog box opens.
5. Click Drawing. The Import IGES dialog box opens.
6. Under Views, click one of the following:
No views—Does not import views from the IGES file.
2D views—Imports the views in the IGES file as 2D views.
7. From the Map Text Symbols To list, select the font type that you want to assign to imported text symbols.
This option is available when you import a drawing in a new file.
This option overrides the intf2d_in_symbol_font configuration option for the session.
For more information, see Mapping Imported Text Symbols.
8. Select the required import options:
Import associative dimensions—Imports dimensions retaining their original association with the relevant draft entities when dimensions are associative before import.
Import associative dimensions shows selection and Recompute associative dimensions is available when you set the intf2d_in_assoc_dim_geom configuration option to yes.
Recompute associative dimensions—Recalculates dimension values or the distance of the draft entities from the dimension witness lines before associating the dimensions with the draft entities closest to the dimension witness lines. Use this option with the Import associative dimensions or Automatically associate dimensions option.
Recompute associative dimensions shows selection when you set the intf2d_in_recompute_dim_value configuration option to yes.
Automatically associate dimensions—Automatically associates the imported dimensions with the relevant draft entities when the dimensions are not associative before import.
Automatically associate dimensions shows selection and Recompute associative dimensions is available when you set the auto_associate_dimensions configuration option to yes.
Import symbols as entities—Imports symbols as entities or as symbols.
Import points—Converts the IGES point entities to drawing points.
Create variable size sheet—Selected by default. Drawing sheets of different sizes are created, depending on the information contained in the imported file when the imported drawing sheets vary in size.
Import user colors—Imports the color-definition entities in the IGES file as user-defined colors.
Import user line fonts—Imports user-defined line fonts.
Import groups as layers—Converts an IGES group to layers in the drawing.
