About the Welding User Interface
The Welding tab consists of commands and shortcut menus. On the Model tab, click Applications > Welding to open the Welding tab.
Commands
Visibility
Blank—Blanks a weld, temporarily turning off the weld display in the graphics window, without creating a Hidden Items layer.
Unblank—Unblanks a weld, turning on the weld display in the graphics window.
Setup
Joint Members Assistant (assemblies only)—Creates, redefines, or activates a joint member. Performs model analysis to detect shared sub-assemblies and duplicated joint member features.
Joint Members (assemblies only)—Creates joint members from components that will be fastened.
Weld Material—Opens the Weld Materials dialog box.
Process—Opens the Weld Processes dialog box.
Preferences—Opens the Weld Preferences dialog box.
Setup > Weld Standards—Opens the Weld Standard dialog box.
Insert
Weld Wizard—Opens the Weld Definition dialog box. Available in assemblies.
Fillet Weld—Creates a fillet weld.
Groove Weld or Butt Weld—Creates a groove (ANSI) or butt (ISO) weld whose type you can select on the tab that opens, or click the arrow next to Groove Weld or Butt Weld to select one of the following weld type commands:
Square Groove or Square Butt—Creates a square groove or butt weld.
Bevel Groove or Bevel Butt—Creates a bevel groove or butt weld.
V Groove or V Butt—Creates a V groove or butt weld.
J Groove or J Butt—Creates a J groove or butt weld.
U Groove or U Butt—Creates a U groove or butt weld.
Flare Bevel Groove or Flare Bevel Butt—Creates a flare bevel groove or butt weld.
Flare V Groove or Flare V Butt—Creates a flare V groove or butt weld.
Bevel Butt with Broad Root Face (ISO only)—Creates a bevel butt weld with a broad root face.
V Butt with Broad Root Face (ISO only)—Creates a V butt weld with a broad root face.
Plug/Slot Weld—Creates a plug weld or slot weld.
Spot Weld—Creates a spot weld.
Editing
Combine—Combines welds to form reinforced or both sides welds.
Convert—Converts weld geometry representation between light, surface, and solid, and edge preparation geometry representation between light and solid.
Pattern—Creates multiple instances of a feature to form a pattern.
Geometry Pattern—Creates multiple instances of entities to form a geometry pattern.
Pattern Table—Modifies the pattern table, which drives the value of dimensions.
Uncombine—Uncombines a combined weld that was created prior to Creo Elements Pro 5.0.
Info
Length—Displays the length of a weld or the weld materials, and saves the length value to a file.
Mass—Displays the mass of a weld or the weld materials, and saves the mass value to a file.
BOM—Displays the bill of materials, and saves it to a file.
Info > Weld—Displays information about a weld, and saves it to a file.
Info > Export—Exports connection and joint information to an XML file in xMCF (Extended Master Connection File) or Creo-Weld format.
Info > Parameters—Displays the parameters of a weld, and saves them to a file.
Shortcut Menus
Right-click a weld feature to access shortcut menu commands.
Change Weld Material—Opens the Weld Material Selection box.
Change Process—Opens the Process Selection box.
Combine—Combines welds to form reinforced or both sides welds.
Uncombine—Uncombines a combined weld that was created prior to Creo Elements Pro 5.0.
Convert to—Converts weld geometry representation to light, surface, or solid, and edge preparation geometry representation to light and solid.
