Search for similar parts
You can search for geometrically-similar parts in an assembly. Creo Elements/Direct Part Library calculates the similarity of each part with all other parts in the assembly. The results are available in a similarity search analyze tree. A percentage indicates the level of similarity, identical parts have 100% similarity.
1. Click Part Library and then, in the Part & Assembly group, click the arrow next to Compare.
2. Click Similarity Search. The Search Similar Parts dialog box opens.
3. Select an assembly.
4. In the Similarity[%] box, type a value for the minimum similarity percentage. Only the results that are equal to or above this percentage are displayed.
5. In the Max. Results box, type a value for the maximum results.
6. Select the 3D-Lib check box to exclude the library parts from the similarity search.
7. Select the Container check box to exclude parts that are within containers from the similarity search.
8. Click Update If Necessary to update similarity calculations only if a part has been modified since the last calculation.
9. Click Calculate New to force a similarity calculation update.
10. If you have ModelSearch installed, use the Search in database check box and the options under it to search the database.
*
Search in database is possible only in combination with ModelSearch (provided by TECHSOFT Datenverarbeitung GmbH, www.techsoft.at).
11. Click OK.
After the search is complete, the Similarity Search dialog box opens, and the results are visible in an analyze tree. You can also perform operations on the results. See Ergebnisse der Ähnlichkeitssuche analysieren for details.
