Send a BOM to another program
You can send, or export, a BOM in several formats, including
HTML: Creates the current BOM as a table in your Web browser.
MS Excel: Creates the current BOM in a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel.
CSV: Creates a comma-separated text document that will be displayed if you have the .csv file type associated with an application. This type of file is commonly associated with a spreadsheet application.
Creo Elements/Direct Annotation: Sends the current BOM to the title block of a drawing in Creo Elements/Direct Annotation. You must already have a drawing created to send your BOM to Creo Elements/Direct Annotation.
Creo Elements/Direct Modeling: Creates the current BOM and sends it to the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling 3D Documentation module.
*
When you send BOM data to Creo Elements/Direct Annotation or Creo Elements/Direct Drafting, Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager displays Total Qty values as Modeled Qty (instead of the Modeled Qty values displayed in Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager) in order to maintain compatibility with older BOM data.
To send a BOM report,
Create (scan) the BOM first. See Create (scan) a BOM:automatically.
1. Click a Masterdata in the workspace.
2. Click Structure and then, in the BOM group, click BOM Editor.
3. Click File > Send To. Alternatively, click the arrow next to Send To and select the destination for the report. Unless your administrator has configured another default, the BOM report is single level, unstructured (but not consolidated), and includes all assemblies and parts.
For more control over how the BOM report looks, generate a report before sending it.
1. From the BOM Editor, click Generate Reports in the BOM Tasks panel and follow the instructions.
2. Click File > Send To. Alternatively, click the arrow next to Send to and select the destination for the report.
The output from a Structured report shows the BOM "as expanded". The content of assemblies that are not expanded will not appear in the report.
*
Structured reports cannot be sent to Creo Elements/Direct Annotation, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, or Creo Elements/Direct Drafting.
To position the BOM in Creo Elements/Direct Annotation,
1. In Creo Elements/Direct Annotation, click Insert and then, in the BOM group, click Draw. The Draw BOM dialog box opens.
2. Set the BOM settings.
3. Click Draw.
4. Place the BOM on the drawing.
5. Click OK.
*
You must store your model before creating views in Creo Elements/Direct Annotation, or you will get an error when you place BOM position flags. If you didn't store your model first, try doing a force update of your views. This should allow you to place the BOM position flags.
