Set BOM attributes in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling
Models have a special set of attributes that control how the BOM is generated. BOM configuration attributes (BOM attributes) set in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling are stored in the database and become the defaults each time you scan BOM. You can also set the BOM attributes in the BOM Editor, but these changes only apply to one scan. See Create (scan) a BOM:automatically.
In the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Bill-of-Material menu you can set:
Reference (Exclude in Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager BOM Editor) - If checked, this object will be excluded from the BOM.
Indicator (Show in report in Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager BOM Editor) - Controls how subassemblies are treated.
Part (Inseparable in Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager BOM Editor): The subassembly will be treated as a part and its underlying parts will not be included in the BOM.
None, Assembly (Phantom in Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager BOM Editor): The subassembly will be treated as a collection of parts. The parts will be included in the BOM but the subassembly will not be listed.
*
Indicator affects only the final BOM report and not the BOM scan process.
Actual Qty: Total number of this part. For example, the designer of a toy wagon might model one wheel but want to include four wheels in the product.
Spare Qty: The number of spare parts to make up for loss or damage. For example, a hardware kit might have 50 bolts for the product plus two spare bolts to cover for a counting error or defective bolt. See Understand BOM quantities.
A company may use both Part (Inseparable) and Assembly (Phantom) configurations for its BOMs. For example, in the manufacturing line Person 1 needs the BOM of a Phantom to construct a carburetor. Person 1 collects all the parts within the Phantom to build the carburetor and then welds the parts together. Person 1 then puts the part on the shelf. Now, Person 2 comes to the assembly line. Person 2 needs a BOM of an Inseparable (the carburetor is now one part because all pieces were welded together) to connect to the housing. Person 2 takes the carburetor from the shelf and proceeds with the job.
