Save a model or assembly
*
You are running Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager outside of Creo Elements/Direct Modeling and can view models only. To save, Start and stop Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager from Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.
To save a model and its children:
1. Right-click the model in the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Structure Browser and, in the shortcut menu, click Model Manager > Save 3D. Alternatively, click in the Model Manager toolbar or click File > Save To Model Manager, or click File > Model Manager > Save, and specify the model to be saved. The Save dialog box opens.
2. Select a Save Type and the Working Packet for the model.
3. Select a Save Type for each item being saved.
When you save an assembly, the Save dialog box provides tools for sorting, viewing, and filtering the parts and assemblies.
Click a column header to sort the entries based on their values in that column.
Click to switch between tree mode and flattened mode.
Click to activate and deactivate search mode. Click the arrow next to and select either the modified items or the save type as the search criteria. When search is enabled, the items matched by the search are highlighted in yellow.
Click Filter to enable or disable the filter. Click the arrow next to Filter and select either the modified items or the save type as the filter criteria. When the filter is enabled, the number of items matched by the filter is displayed at the bottom of the dialog.
When the search and filter are both enabled, the filter selects the items matching the filter criterium and then the search highlights the items matching the search criterium. The number of items matched by the search criterium within the items matched by the filter is displayed at the bottom of the dialog.
4. You can modify the Major Rev or Minor Rev and add Change Notes for individual items.
5. Click Save.

If you have configured the number generator, Preview next number is visible in the Save dialog box. Click once to get the next number. Every time you click , the number increases by the configured increment value. You can not return to the skipped values but the administrator can change the values. You may edit the value if the <AllowUserOverwrite> XML configuration tag is true.
To save package files in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, click File > Model Manager > Save PKG.

When you copy a model in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, and then save it in Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager, the links between the original model and any other document types are created for the new model. If the original model was associated with a drawing, a new drawing is created and linked to the copied model.
The Save Type menu:
You may select one of the following save types:
New Entry is the only available option if the model or assembly has not been previously saved in Model Manager. The options below are only available if the item has been saved before.
Overwrite saves the model or assembly to the current major and minor revision, overwriting the data stored for the current revision.
Major Rev increments the major revision to the next value, depending on its current value.
Minor Rev increments the minor revision to the next value, depending on its current value.
The Working Packet shows your current working packet. If projects are enabled, you can direct specific models and sub-assemblies to different projects and packets.
Save options:
The following save options for each model or drawing are displayed in columns in the Structure Browser. Click to open a predefined list of additional choices.
Save type allows you to specify the version. New Version creates a new version in Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager. Overwrite replaces the version you opened from Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager. If you are saving a model for the first time, New Entry is the only available save type.
Major Rev can be set if you selected Major Rev in the Save Type column. You can find more information about revisions by clicking here.
Minor Rev can be set if you selected Minor Rev in the Save Type column.
Change Note allows you to save a note with your models or drawings. If you place a check mark in the box, you will be prompted for the change note contents after you initiate the save process.
Store Packet allows you to choose the packet to contain the model or assembly.
If you would like images saved with your model or drawing, select the following options:
Create thumbnail
PDF (drawings only)
When you save a model, assembly, or drawing, you can also select or create Masterdata to link to your saved item. See Link saved items to Masterdata.
Renaming a model or drawing:
If you change a model name in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, the new name is only applied to the database if you also save a geometry change. If you do not change any geometry, the save may appear to work but the new name is not be saved.
SysID conflicts:
You will get a SysID conflict if you try to save an item with the same System ID as an item already in the Creo Elements/Direct Manager Server database. Most SysID conflicts occur when importing data that already exists in the database.
For more information on System IDs and SysID conflicts, click System ID.
Name conflicts:
Each model stored in the Creo Elements/Direct Manager Server database must have a unique name. When you save models, Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager checks their names to ensure that they are unique.
For more information on how to resolve name conflicts, click Resolve name conflicts.
Structure conflicts:
You will get a structure conflict when you try to save an assembly with a different structure than the version stored in the database and Creo Elements/Direct Modeling has not marked the assembly as Modified.
For more information os how to reslove structure conflicts, click Resolve structure conflicts
Save failure:
If the following error message appears during Save:
You must enter a value for the required attribute
but you are unable to type a value, please contact your Administrator. The attribute must have Enable setting of attribute during save turned on.
Save a model or assembly with multiple version:
If you modify more than one versions of the same part or assembly, the Save type in its save operation must be Overwrite. If you modify only one version of a part, the modified version is stored as normal while the Save type in the save operation for the unmodified versions of the same part must be none.If no versions of a part are modified, the Save type in the save operation must be none.
*
You cannot save an assembly that has multiple versions of a part under the same parent, using a single save operation.
