Configurations overview
A configuration offers an alternate view of your assembly that you can quickly turn on and off. One popular use is the exploded view. You can also use configurations to visualize your assemblies with parts moved to locations different from their normal positions.
For example, if you have an assembly with moving parts, you can create a configuration to move the parts into their secondary positions. Activate and deactivate the configuration as you work, and you won't have to manually reposition parts.
Any position changes you make while a configuration is active are saved in the configuration, not as the standard or default position of the object.
Configuration settings
Configuration settings let you control how Creo Elements/Direct 3D Access behaves when you work with a configuration.
To change Configuration settings,
1. Click File > Settings > Configuration. The Configuration Settings dialog box opens.
2. The Activate tab allows you to control which actions are performed when you double-click a configuration in the Structure Browser. The settings assign a hotkey that you can hold down while double-clicking, and the action listed at the top of the column will be applied. Set the following options on the Activate tab:
None: Action(s) to perform when you double-click a configuration without any key held down.
Shift: Action(s) to perform when you hold the Shift key and double-click a configuration.
Ctrl: Action(s) to perform when you hold the Ctrl key and double-click a configuration.
3. The Misc tab includes the following properties:
Smooth Update: Moves the camera smoothly when you activate a configuration that has a camera view stored. Does not affect how objects move into their configuration positions.
Allow positioning outside Configuration Owner: If you select this option, you will be able to move parts that are not owned by the configuration's owner assembly.
Assembly Highlight Color: The color of assemblies when you highlight your configuration.
Part Highlight Color: The color of parts when you highlight your configuration.
4. Click Close when you are finished. Changes are applied as you change settings.
