You can view models in 3D in the graphics area when the Stereo option in selected. This option leverages your ability to perceive three dimensional models and improve productivity.

Stereoscopic view is created when two coinciding images are projected simultaneously. Using the 3D designated glasses, you can see a single 3D image, and not two separated images.
