About Wall Relief
You can add wall relief to help control the sheet metal material and to prevent unwanted deformation when performing an unbend operation. Relief allows you to better represent an accurate, real life model that reflects material stretching.
There are two types of wall relief:
Bend Relief—Add when creating a bend, or when creating a flat or flange wall.
Corner Relief—Add using the Corner Relief tool, or when creating a flange wall or a conversion feature. You can display corner relief in a model in both the formed and the unbent states.
For flat and flange walls, you can add bend and corner relief during wall creation. For other wall types, you can add relief to existing walls using the Corner Relief and the Conversion tools, or when adding a bend feature. You can set the relief type for each wall end or corner individually or create sets of relief. To maintain consistency and save time, set default bend and corner relief properties using the Relief area of the Sheetmetal Preferences dialog box. Default relief settings are displayed in the Relief line of the Model Properties dialog box.
