To Add a New Component to an Assembly
1. In an activated assembly, on the Quick Access Toolbar, click . The New dialog box opens.
Alternatively, click File > New. The New dialog box opens.
Alternatively, to create a new component in a sub assembly,
a. Select a sub assembly in the Model Tree.
b. Click Home and then click the arrow next to New Instance.
c. Click New Component. The New dialog box opens.
2. Click Part or Assembly.
3. In the File name box, type a name.
4. In the Common name box, type a general description for the component.
5. Keep the default template or clear the Use default template check box to select a template for the component.
6. Click OK. The new component is created and automatically assembled to the default Csys in the assembly. The component remains selected and a toolbar appears for positioning the component.
 
* If you do not select the default template, a New File Options dialog box opens. Select a template and click OK.
To Add a New Component to a Subassembly from the Model Tree
1. In an open assembly with one or more subassemblies, right-click a subassembly on the Model Tree and click New Component. The New dialog box opens.
2. Follow steps 2 through 7 to add the component to the subassembly.
