About the Selection Filter in Assembly Mode
Remember the following points as you work with the selection filter in assembly mode:
You can use the selection filter on the status bar to select entities from an assembly.
You can set the selection filter to one of part, datum, vertex, sketch, edge, surface, quilt, or geometry.
When you activate or work with an activated part in assembly mode, the selection filter displays items based on the activated part. After setting a filter, you can select reference entities from any of the parts or subassemblies within the assembly other than the activated part itself.
When you set the selection filter to All, you can select an entire part by clicking a vertex on the part. However, this selection is not possible if you set the selection filter to Vertex itself.
When you set the selection filter to All, you can deselect an entire part by holding down the CTRL key and clicking a vertex on the part. However, this is not possible if you set the selection filter to Vertex itself.

* For querying and selecting entities you can also use a shortcut menu in the graphics window.
