About the Workspace
A workspace is a restricted area allocated on a PDM system such as Windchill for managing work with other designers. You can create multiple workspaces on a PDM system. Each workspace has a context. In case of Windchill, the context can be a Project, Product, or a Library. A new object is always added to the context of the workspace unless you specify another location. Some of the workspace features follow:
• Consists of a local cache directory and a folder in the user cabinet on the server.
• Tracks and changes multiple objects and performs basic data management operations from within the Creo Direct user interface. You must specify a primary server and create an active workspace.
• Enables designers to operate independently while recording and tracking concurrent activities to assist in product design decisions.
• Connects Creo Direct to a Windchill server for checkin and checkout operations. The Creo Direct session and the workspace are linked such that information modified in one application can be seen in the other application.
• Preserves and saves changes made to object attributes in Windchill. However, you cannot view or update the changes in Creo Direct.
