About the Model Tree
The Model Tree in Creo Direct part and assembly modes lists all the entities within a model in a hierarchical format. It is very similar to the Model Tree in Creo Parametric. When you open a new or an existing part or an assembly, the Model Tree by default opens in the main window.
Items on the Model Tree
The active part or assembly is at the top of the Model Tree.
In part mode, the part appears along with the datums, coordinate systems, sketches, and quilts included within the part.
In assembly mode, the top-level assembly, subassemblies, and parts included within the assembly appear in a hierarchical structure.
In assembly mode, you can display additional columns, such as, Description, Modeled By, Database Status, and Feature Name.
In assembly mode, assign a name to a component instance so that you can identify individual components. You can also edit the component names. The editable names are saved with the assembly. You can view the component names when you open the assembly in Creo Parametric.
Appearance of Entities on the Model Tree
Each entity type appears with an icon.
A check box appears next to each entity on the Model Tree. To work on specific entities, select or clear the check boxes next to the specific Model Tree entity. You can also toggle the display of the entities using the shortcut menu in the Model Tree or in the graphics window. In case of an assembly, you can toggle the display of individual assembly components.
All the datum entities appear in groups within a separate folder.
Using the Model Tree
Select an entity and then choose an action.
Select an entity to highlight it in the graphics window.
Open a part within an assembly file by right-clicking the part on the Model Tree.
Show or hide datum or sketch entities.
Dynamically search or filter the tree nodes on the Model Tree.
Refer to the Model Tree section in the Creo Parametric Fundamentals Help for more information.
