Inserting a Phase Diagram
You can insert any number of phase diagrams in the System file by inserting records for them under the top-level Phase Diagrams folder in the RBD Table. A phase diagram can be deleted from the System file by deleting the record for it from the RBD Table.
1. In the RBD Table, select the Phase Diagrams folder or, to insert the phase diagram in a child folder, select or create that child folder. For folder insertion information, see
Inserting Diagram Folders.
2. To insert the phase diagram in the selected folder, do one of the following:
◦ Press Insert
◦ Right-click and select Insert New Phase Diagram.
◦ Select > .
For Identifier, a unique identifier is assigned based on the setting for Phase Diagram Identifier under Identifier in the
System file properties. The default format for this identifier is Phase DiagramX, where X is the next available numeric value. For more information, see
Identifiers System File Properties.
You can repeat step 2 multiple times to insert multiple phase diagrams. To reorder phase diagrams, you can use the standard Windows drag-and-drop technique.
For Identifier, you can modify the default identifier assigned to the new phase diagram. Additionally, for Description, you can enter a description for the phase diagram in.
The phases in the phase diagram are connected in order from the start node to the end node. To prevent unconnected phases, you cannot move connectors independently of the phases that they connect.
For each phase in the phase diagram, calculation properties must be specified. To open a phase’s
Calculation Properties window, double-click the phase. For more information, see
Phase Calculation Properties.
You can also view and modify the visual properties for a phase. To open its
Visual Properties window, right-click the phase and select
Visual Properties. The visual properties for a phase are the same as those for a block. For more information, see
Block Visual Properties.
Because the default block for a phase is bound to the Phase Block style in the supplied
RBD Style Library file, to modify its visual properties, you must first clear
Bind to Style. To modify all phases bound to this style, you have to create a Phase Block style in a custom
RBD Style Library file and then modify it there. For more information, see
RBD Style Library Files.
