Entering Solenoids
The following table describes the part parameters required for solenoids.
Parameter
Type
Description
Piston Wear Life
Real. Used in Lambda p calculation.
The wear life of the piston in number of cycles.
Load Type
Choice List. Used in Cv, Ci, and Cpf calculations.
Enter the type of load. Choices are:
AC Resistive
AC Inductive
DC
Operating Voltage
Real (Volts). Used in Cv calculation.
The operating voltage in volts across the contactor.
Rated Voltage
Real (Volts). Used in Cv calculation.
The rated voltage in volts of the contactor.
Operating Current
Real (Amperes). Used in Ci calculation.
The operating current in amps through the contactor.
Rated Current
Real (Amperes). Used in Ci calculation.
The rated current in amps of the contactor.
Power Factor
Real. Used in Cpf calculation.
Required only for AC inductive loads.
The multiplying factor for power factor for the contactor. Common values are from 0.25 to 1.0.
Temperature Rise
Real (Degrees C). Used in Ct calculation.
The temperature rise from the ambient subassembly temperature to this component. The temperature rise plus the ambient temperature is equal to the operating temperature of the device.
Rated Temperature
Real (Degrees C). Used in Ct calculation.
The maximum temperature rating specified by the manufacturer, or the maximum design temperature.
Cycles/Hour
Real
The number of cycles/hour. This is required to convert failure ratings from failures/cycle to failure/hour
