Entering Metal and Rubber Compressor Diaphragms
The following table describes the part parameters required for metal and rubber compressor diaphragms.
Parameter
Type
Description
Base Failure Rate
Real (Failures/Million Hours)
The base or manufacturer-supplied failure rate. Generally, this field is left at #.# so that the failure rate is calculated based on the values entered for other parameters. If you enter a value for this parameter, this value is used in place of a calculated failure rate.
Maximum Strain %
Real Used in Cp and Cac calculations
The maximum strain percentage for the diaphragm, which is generally between 0 to 800. For more information, see the Handbook of Reliability Prediction Procedures for Mechanical Equipment.
Ozone %
Choice List. Used in Cac calculation
The percentage of ozone in the atmosphere.
Anti-Ozonant Coating
Choice List. Used in Cac calculation
Indicates whether a chemical anti-ozonant coating is used on the surface of the diaphragm to reduce crack growth. Choices are:
Yes
No
Liquid Contam Factor
Real Used in Clc calculation
The liquid contaminant multiplier factor. A nominal value is 1.0. For more information, see the Handbook of Reliability Prediction Procedures for Mechanical Equipment.
Temperature Rise
Real (Degrees C). Used in Ct calculation
The temperature rise from the ambient subassembly temperature to this component. The temperature rise plus the ambient temperature is equal to the operating temperature of the device.
