LCC Custom Graphs
You can generate three types of custom LCC graphs using the Graph Wizard. The procedure for generating any of these graphs is basically the same. After LCC calculations have been run, you start the Graph Wizard and indicate the results to graph.
1. Select Tools > Graph Wizard. The Graph Wizard starts and displays the Load Graph Template page.
2. Select Create a custom graph and click Next. If the Select Module page appears, select LCC and click Next again. The Group Results page appears.
3. Select the option for indicating how you want to group results:
Calculation results by Cost Breakdown Structure item. Graphs calculation results by cost breakdown structure (CBS) items over all alternatives or a selected alternative. You select the type of calculation results to graph. Then, for the x-axis values, you indicate whether you want to show results for all alternatives or only one alternative.
Calculation results by Alternative. Graphs calculation results by alternatives. You need only to select the type of calculation results to graph.
Calculation results by Time Interval. Graphs calculation results by time intervals over all alternatives or a selected alternative. You select the type of calculation results to graph by time interval. Then, for the x-axis values, you indicate whether you want to show results for all alternative or only one alternative.
Calculation results by Sensitivity. Graphs calculation results by sensitivity over all alternatives or a selected alternative. You select the type of calculate results to graph by sensitivity. Then, for the x-axis values, you indicate whether you want to group records by one or all alternatives.
4. Click Next. The LCC Calculations page appears.
5. Select the type of graph you want to generate:
Cost. When selected, the total cost of the item in the cost breakdown structure (CBS) over its entire life span is calculated. The cost for a parent record is equal to the sum of the costs for all child records
Net Present Value. When selected, the total cost of the item in today’s currency is calculated. For each time interval in the LCC Variables file, you can specify an interest (inflation) rate. These values are used to determine the net present value of the item. For more information, see Net Present Value.
Cost percentage. When selected, the percentage of the cost for the item in respect to the cost of the parent item is calculated.
Net present value percentage. When selected, the percentage of the cost for the item in respect to the cost of the parent item is calculated.
6. Click Next. The LCC Alternatives page appears for all LCC graph types but Calculation results by Alternative. If this graph type was selected, the Graph Options page appears instead. Go to step 9.
7. Select the choice indicating the alternatives you want to graph:
Show results for all alternatives. When selected (default), calculation results are shown for all alternatives.
Show results for only this alternative. When selected, calculation results are shown only for the alternative that you select in the field to the right. Choices for this field include all alternatives defined in the Project’s LCC Variables file. For more information, see LCC Variables Files.
8. Click Next. The Graph Options page appears so that you can specify how the graph is to look.
9. Complete the Graph Options page and the remaining pages to generate the graph. For more information, see Specifying Graph Options.
