Add/Edit Part Definition Window
The Add Part Definition window provides for inserting a part definition in the Part Definition pane of the FMEA Modes Library file. The Edit Part Definition window provides for modifying a part definition in this same pane. Both of these windows contain the same options, which are described in the following table.

Description
Part classification
The class of the part type. Choices include all classifications described in Part Classifications as well as < Any Part Classification >. When < Any Part Classification > is selected (default), the failure modes associated with this part definition are used if a match of a specific part definition is not found.
Category
The type of the part. Choices include all categories for the selected part classification as well as < Any Category >. When < Any Category > is selected (default), the failure modes associated with this part definition are used if a match of a specific part definition is not found.
Subcategory
The subtype of the part. Choices include all subcategories for the selected part classification and category as well as < Any Subcategory >. When < Any Subcategory > is selected (default), the failure modes associated with this part definition are used if a match of a specific part definition is not found.
IEC 62380 Type
For an RDF 2000 / IEC part only, the failure mode type from those in the IEC TR 62380 standard. Choices include all IEC 62380 failure mode types for the selected part classification, category, and subcategory. An < Any IEC 62380 Type >choice is also available. When < Any IEC 62380 Type > is selected (default), the following failure modes are used: Short-circuits and Open-circuits. If < Any Subcategory > is selected for the subcategory, < Any IEC 62380 Type > is the only choice available unless Integrated Circuits is the product category. For integrated circuits, you can have any subcategory selected and still select an IEC 62380 type. This is because the types available for selection are the same for all subcategories of integrated circuits.
