Synchronizing the System Tree with the Windchill BOM
When a System file with Windchill parts opens, a message bar is shown above the System Tree Items table if Windchill part information has changed since the last synchronization:
Part information has changed in Windchill PDMLink/Windchill MPMLink. Resync your System Tree Items to get the latest updates.
This same message bar is shown if changes are found when you manually check for Windchill for updates to part information. For more information, see Checking for Updates to Windchill Part Information. If you want to close this message bar, you click the X on its right side.
1. If you want to synchronize the System Tree Items table with theWindchill BOM, do one of the following:
In the message bar, click the Resync System Tree Items button.
From the System Tree Items table, select Windchill Resync System Tree Items.
On this page, you indicate whether you want to delete records for parts that have been removed from this product in Windchill PDMLink/Windchill MPMLink. If you delete these records, the wizard copies them to the first enabled Assembly Library file to which you have permissions so that any Prediction and FMEA module data that they might contain is not lost. Additional information about these records follows this procedure.
2. If the Windchill Login window appears, supply your Windchill user name and password and click Log in.
The Resync System Tree Items Wizard starts and displays the Delete PTC Windchill Parts page.
*
The name of this wizard and its pages use singular names for referenced tables. If custom table names have been specified, text and option labels use the custom names rather than the default names. For more information, see Specifying Table Settings.
3. Indicate whether you want to delete records for removed Windchill parts and click Next.
If you selected the option for deleting removed records, the Delete System Tree Items page appears. Go to step 4.
If you selected the option for not deleting removed records, the Highlight Changed Rows page appears. Go to step 5.
4. On the Delete System Tree Items page, indicate whether you want to remove records from the System Tree Items table that are not in this Windchill product; then, click Next. The Highlight Changed Rows page appears.
5. On the Highlight Changed Rows page, indicate whether you want to highlight parts that have been added or changed for the Windchill product.
By default, Highlight all parts that have changed since last sync is selected so that records that have been added or modified since the last synchronization are highlighted.
When this checkbox is selected, you must select one of the following options to indicate how you want to handle any old highlighting remaining from the last time a synchronization was performed:
Clear the old highlighting and highlight only new changes. When selected (default), old highlighting is removed so that only records that have been added or changed since the last synchronization are highlighted.
Keep the old highlighting and add the new changes. When selected, old highlighting is retained and records that have been added or changed since the last synchronization are also highlighted.
Records that are added or changed are highlighted. If desired, you can change the highlight color and also manually clear highlighting between synchronizations. For more information, see Setting and Clearing Highlighting for Changed Windchill Parts.
6. When finished, click Next. The Wizard Complete page appears.
7. Click Finish. The Windchill BOM is used to update the System Tree Items table. Your settings are remembered for the next time you synchronize this table.
A window opens, indicating progress. Another window opens once the System Tree Items table is synchronized successfully.
8. Click OK, which closes both windows.
In the System file, if you indicated that changed rows should be highlighted, all rows with changed part data appear in the color specified by Display PTC Windchill highlight color in the Options window. By default, the highlight color is grass green.
Anytime the System file is open, you can determine whether the Windchill BOM has changed since the last synchronization by selecting PTC Windchill Check for Updates.
If you deleted records for removed Windchill PDMLink/Windchill MPMLink parts and/or Windchill Risk and Reliability parts, you can view these records in the first enabled Assembly Library file to which you have permissions. If no Assembly Library file existed prior to this, one is created.
When the deleted record is for an assembly, the record is copied to the Assembly Library file.
When the deleted record is for a part, the record is copied under an auto-created assembly for that synchronization in the Assembly Library file because a part cannot exist in this file without being under an assembly. The name of the auto-created assembly is Windchill Removed Parts followed by the date and time of the synchronization. All part records deleted during the synchronization are placed under this assembly. For more information, see Assembly Library Files.
