FTA Project Properties
The following table describes the properties that appear under FTA in the Project properties.
Property
Description
Default FTA calculation type
The method selected as the default for FTA calculations in System files, FTA Diagram Library files, and FTA Event Library files that you create in the Project. Choices are:
Time Dependent — When selected (default), standard time dependent analysis is used to determine availability or reliability.
Lambda Tau — When selected, Lambda Tau analysis is used to determine availability or short-term reliability when component or system age is unknown or indeterminate.
SAE ARP4754A and ARP4761 — When selected, these SAE guidelines and methods are used to assess the safety of civil airborne systems and equipment.
*
For FTA Diagram and Event Library files that are created when you insert selected fault tree gates and/or events in the System file into them, the FTA calculation type is the same as the originating System file. This is also true if you use the Build/Update window to create these files.
In the properties for a System file or an FTA Diagram Library file, you can usually select a different calculation type if no events have been inserted. In the file properties for an FTA Event Library file, you can select a different calculation type only if this file contains no records. For more information, see FTA System File Properties and FTA Support File Properties.
Hide Functional Dependency gate outputs
Indicates whether to consider the outputs of a functional dependency gate as inputs of the parent gate. When this checkbox is cleared (default), the outputs of a functional dependency gate are considered as inputs. When this checkbox is selected, the outputs of a functional dependency gate are not considered as inputs. In this case, the connector from the functional dependency gate to its parent gate is shown as a dashed line. For more information, see Functional Dependency Gate.
